Canyon Cinema
Canyon Cinema is an arts organization and film library located in the Bayview which rents and sells avantegarde films, both historic and new. Canyon began as a loose organization of filmmakers in the 60s and it’s pretty wonderful that it’s survived all these years and continues to provide a service to freaked out filmmaker types.
Strangely, I just learned about Canyon Cinema while in Los Angeles. I read about it in a book called Radical Light, which was on the bookshelf at an apartment i’ve been staying in. Turns out there is also a Radical Light film series curated by the author of that book, which tours around and is going on RIGHT NOW. thru april.
